Good ANALOG or hybrid phone system tool

This butt set is the right tool if working on ANALOG phone lines, it is not recommended for working on local digital PBX small business systems. Built and designed for old ANALOG phone lines and systems, which it works very well on. Recommended for ANALOG system work. If working on a hybrid system, which most are, it's a recommended tool to have. -

The unit is 2.5 years old but I have only used it 2 or 3 times since the purchase. My job occasionally requires me to work on phone and data circuits and I purchased the "butt set" and a data line tester at the same time for a specific job and have rarely needed them since. It was stored in a tool box inside one of the lockable equipment/tool cabinets in my employer's service van. Today I pulled out the "butt set" to test dial tone at the service provider's NID (I am wiring the circuit to autodial alarm unit) and at first thought the circuit was bad.
